History’s Lesson

Scripture
Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him.
(1 Kings 16:30)
Devotional
We sadly fail to learn history's lesson. Each generation lives as if there has been no previous generation. The generation in which I live for example acts as if youth is a new phenomena. Many parents and leaders do not know how to deal with these new life forms. They continually attempt to understand them, and they continually fail. The reason being is that they have not learned history’s lesson. They are children. They are adolescent in their thinking and reasoning. Instead of parents attempting to understand their children, they need to make sure that their children understand them. However, it does appear that each subsequent generation is becoming more and more sinful. This is because we are in a state of continuing entropy. The further we are from creation the more sinful mankind has become. There is only one hope for the next generation, Jesus Christ. If not, that generation will do more evil than all who were before them.
