Title

You Cannot Work Sin To Your Advantage

Scripture
And it happened, when the children of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but they did not utterly drive them out.
(Joshua 17:13)
Devotional
God had commanded His chosen people to drive out all the inhabitants of the land for they were an evil people; instead, Israel kept some of their enemies in the land and attempted to us them to their advantage. Well, you sure do not have to read much scripture to find out what a terrible plague the Canaanites were to Israel. There may have been a time that you attempted to hold on to that which God commanded you to drive out of your life. Maybe you are presently holding on to a few Canaanites. Perhaps your Canaanites are laziness, or dishonesty, or even unfaithfulness. You, like Israel, may be attempting to use these to your advantage. Listen carefully, you are playing a deadly game; as the Canaanites were never a friend to Israel, your Canaanites will never be a friend to you. God clearly says, “Utterly drive them out.”
