Title

My Sister, My Wife

Scripture
How fair is your love, my sister, my spouse!
(Song Of Solomon 4:10)
Devotional
There is no perversion in our text, Solomon did not literally merry his physical sister. Nevertheless in the Lord he realized that he had a dual relationship with his wife. In the flesh she was his helpmate, the one to which he was betrothed till death. In the Spirit she was his sister, a child of God like himself with whom he would spend eternity. Therefore he expressed a twofold love for her. He loved her as a wife and he loved her as a sister in Christ. Never forget that no one comes to the Father except through Christ, whether in the New Testament church or under the Old Testament law. As we look back to Calvary the Solomon looked forward to Calvary. Therefore let us live with our spouses with understanding, honor and a twofold love. If one realm of our relationship is weakened the other will strengthen and preserve.
