Title

Achieving The End

Scripture
The end of a thing is better than its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
(Ecclesiastes 7:8)
Devotional
There are many starts, but far fewer finishes. Stop and think of the number of endeavors you have begun: hobbies, tasks, projects, books and the list goes on. Putting a dream or a goal into action requires ambition, resources and faith. To bring those dreams and goals to fruition demands enthusiasm, sacrifice, working faith and patience. That is why the end of a thing is better than its beginning. Many people start the race, but few finish and even fewer win. A proud spirit may start an endeavor, but a patient spirit will finish it. Patience comes through tried faith. The apostle James says, “The testing of your faith produces patience.” Patience is the ability to remain the same in all situations. Patience does not panic, nor is it frightened by setbacks. Patience trusts, obeys and believes not only in the endeavor, but even more so in the giver of the endeavor, the Lord Jesus Christ.
