Title

Duplicating Leadership

Scripture
And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they reverted and behaved more corruptly…
(Judges 2:19)
Devotional
The ways of a leader must not only be followed, they must be adopted. To follow without changing can only last as long as the one being followed. There must therefore be a double duty. The duty of the leader is to raise up other leaders. The duty of the follower is to become at the least like the leader. If we lead without mentoring, we are leading by dictate. No matter how good of a leader you are, leading by this means demands your constant presence. When we duplicate in others the abilities we have obtained, our leadership is transferable. Leaders must focus on both leading and training. If for example I demand my children to be obedient without teaching them the reason why, when I am gone, the obedience will be gone. Therefore, it is the duty of leaders to teach leadership and it is the duty of followers to learn leadership.
