Title

Whose Footsteps Are You Following?

Scripture
Yet they would not listen… They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked in obeying the commandments of the Lord…
(Judges 2:17)
Devotional
When we fail to learn from history, particularly recent history, we are just plain foolish. History not only has a way of repeating itself; it will tragically amplify itself. When compromised standards are accepted, a rapid deterioration takes place. Any time we make concession with the commandments of God we in turn reject the blessings of God. For example, in less than a generation divorce has gone from a shameful event to an accepted norm. Abortion, homosexuality, euthanasia, and the like have become so called human rights. And, we wonder why society is in a state of entropy. The world knows better. Yet, as our text says, “They would not listen.” Do not be quick to turn from “The Way” of the godly. Learn to diligently listen to the teachings of God’s word. Follow the footsteps of the righteous. Do not repeat history, make it. Do not accept it, change it.
