It has been reported in history that president Harry S. Truman left office with only a thirteen percentage point favorable rating. The same history has also shown him to be one of the top ten most admired presidents. Yet there have been many other presidents with very favorable ratings while in office, while history has not been so approving. The proverb holds true. Fame and popularity are not an indication of righteousness. Time has a way of telling. History has a way of revealing truth. Even when truth is maligned, righteousness wins. The wicked can fool people presently, but sooner or later their name will rot. Therefore, live righteously even when the world mocks and ridicules you. Righteousness always outlives mockery and ridicule. Wickedness may have its fling for a season, but its season will be short-lived. Proverbs likewise says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”Daily Reading
