Godly Prosperity Is No Accident

Scripture
Thus the man (Jacob) became exceedingly prosperous...
(Genesis 30:43)
Devotional
Jacob’s father and grandfather were two of the most godly and prosperous people in the Bible. Yet, Jacob obtained his fame and wealth by his own initiative. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were greatly blessed of the Lord. Nevertheless, their prosperity did not come effortlessly. Jacob for example worked fourteen years for his father-in-law Laban before he was able to take Rachel as his wife and before he prospered on his own. These mighty men of God had three things in common: they trusted in the Lord their God. They worked faithfully, and they waited patiently. Their trust in the Lord was exhibited by their obedience. Their willingness to work was evident, and their patience was manifest by their determination to wait for that which they desired. True prosperity can come no other way. Without faith in God, a faith that works and faithful patience the chances of godliness and prosperity are next to none. Therefore, are you willing to have the faith of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?
