The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us…(Deuteronomy 29:29)
Devotional
Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) said, “It is not the secret things of the Bible that bother me, it is the things that I understand that cause me concern.” I am forever amazed how much time good people want to give to the secret things of God, yet so little time to those which are revealed. They study times and dates, years and millenniums. They make prophetic charts and trace genealogies. Yet, they so often miss the simplicity of the gospel of Christ. They can give the times and the epochs, but cannot balance their finances. They can debate whether Jesus made grape juice or wine at the wedding feast in Canaan of Galilee, but have no lifestyle testimony. They are judges of the law, but seldom keepers of it. They are religious, but seldom godly. They always search out the secret things, but neglect the revealed things-debaters, head strong, yet weak in spirit. From such we are to turn away.Daily Reading
