Title

Purposeful Darkness

Scripture
No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.
(Luke 11:33)
Devotional
There are people groping around in the dark because they have no light. Then there are those who have light, but fail to use it, preferring the chaos of the darkness. There are things we do that are so very foolish. However, I believe that Christ is teaching here that having the light and not walking in it is beyond foolish. Surly, t is something that no one does. May I paraphrase? “Surly, no one is that dumb?” As believers, we have available to us an inexhaustible source of powerful light, the light of the gospel of Christ. Yet, we often hide it as if ashamed to be seen in the light of that gospel. Think about it; shameful places are usually dark places. The people that frequent them are called people of the night. Paul says to the Ephesians, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”

Why do we do this...because we are human. Foregive me, having tasted the "good life" turning to the dark during the times of uncertianty....I know better.
