Title

Obey and Keep

Scripture
Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people…
(Exodus 19:5)
Devotional
I like the thought of being a special treasure to God. Treasures are cared for, loved, and preserved. I like that in treasures. I like that in me. When we understand that we are special treasures, we then can understand that God’s commandments and covenant are always for our benefit. Why wouldn’t we desire to obey His voice, when all of His direction brings blessings to Him and us? Why wouldn’t we want to keep His covenant when doing so releases all of His promises? “Obey My voice and keep My covenant.” We obey His voice through the preaching of the gospel. That is, when we do the things we know to do. We keep His covenant through obedience to His word. That is when we do the things the Bible directs us to do. What a reasonable thing to do that we might be treasures of the most high God.
