Title

Avoid The Lure Of Sin

Scripture
Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, when it swirls around smoothly.
(Proverbs 23:31)
Devotional
Sin is enticing. It baits its victims with beauty, promises of happiness, and satisfaction. Yet, like the lure of the fisherman, its hook is sure and painful. Whether by alcohol, drugs or lust, sin’s promises never come to fruition. The drunkard will come to ruin. The drug abuser will lose all, and the fornicator will find shame. Therefore flee the enticement of sin. Avoid the lure of its beauty. Run from sin’s flirtation. Do not associate with it. Do not compromise even through the decoy of moderation. There is no such thing as moderate sin. All drug addicts were once recreational drug users. All drunkards were once social drinkers. All fornicators were once only flirtatious. You cannot tease the serpent without eventually being struck with its venom. Therefore, do not look on sin when it is colorful, when it sparkles, nor when it swirls smoothly. Remember, sin’s wages are death.
