Title

Who Owns the World?

Scripture
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
(Psalm 24:1)
Devotional
The Creator owns His creation. We are but stewards of it. As stewards, we are to have dominion over all of God’s creation. We are to care for it, nurture it and utilize it for the benefit of mankind and the glory of God. Creation is not to have dominion over man, but man is to have dominion over creation. The world is not as fragile as man often imagines. God has created the world to last as long as needed for His divine purpose. There are enough resources to maintain those created in the image of God until the Lord returns.
God has seen fit to allow us to be custodians of His creation. Therefore, we are to do our best to insure that God is glorified by our actions and deeds. We are to respect creation, but we are not to worship it. We are to take care of it, but we are not here to serve it. Mankind is the highest form of all creation. Therefore, let us be fruitful and multiply.

Defining: “Stewardship” is the Christian’s delegated responsibility under the authority of Christ’s government. All things are Christ’s, and Christians are His stewards—entrusted ambassadors as keepers of His creation.

Referencing: “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God,” 1 Peter 4:10.

Applying: The apostle Paul instructs, “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful,” 1 Corinthians 4:2. To begin, why not pray and ask God what He would have you to do with regard to tithing and giving offerings, serving and ministering in His Church?
