Title

That They May Gladly Receive

Scripture
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
(Acts 2:41)
Devotional
The same Spirit that filled the believers on the Day of Pentecost is the same Spirit that fills the believers today. Therefore, the ability to add to the numbers remains the same. Yet, for the most part, seldom are three thousand added at once. There is a key word in our text that may help to acquire the same move of the Spirit that took place on the Day of Pentecost. That word is “Gladly.” On that day the people heard “Good news,” and joyfully received it. Therefore, when we have the opportunity to share, we ought to share that which gives people hope, not despair. We usually spend too much time reviewing life’s negatives and too little time on the positive. People without Christ know that there is a void in their life. They know that there has to be something better, and we ought to be the ones to gladly tell them.
