Devotional
Solomon asked for an understanding heart, and God granted him his request. The Bible furthermore says that we do not have because we do not ask God. The key to Solomon’s blessings from God and his subsequent success as Israel’s king was that he simply asked. Everything good that I have ever received came to me because I asked for it-from my wife to my church. I have because I have asked. Every good job and opportunity I have ever received came by asking someone for it. If we ask for that which is pleasing to God, then surely we can expect Him to answer. Solomon asked for things pertaining to the eternal, and God gave him the eternal as well as the temporal. God gave Solomon an understanding heart, wisdom, and great wealth, and He did so in that order. What are your desires? Have you asked God for them?Daily Reading
