Title

Making A Point Or Winning

Scripture
A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
(Proverbs 15:1)
Devotional
The ability to remain calm and in control is the fruit of meekness. Meekness is simply defined as strength under control. It is the ability to control your emotions instead of your emotions controlling you. Yes, there can be anger, fear, or even excitement. However, these must be governed. You cannot allow them to reign. Meekness is not weakness. It is the epitome of strength. It says, “I am angry, yet I will not be directed by anger.” “I am fearful, but I will not be motivated by fear.” “I am excited, however, I will not be enticed by excitement.” If I fail to harness my emotions, I will be ruled by them. If I am ruled by them, all of my dealings with others will be based on anger, fear, or excitement. These emotions are good for leaders to posses; however, leaders are not to be possessed by them.

On April 26th, Adam said:
So often we think that the loudest person is the person in control when, in fact, it is the person that does not have to speak above a whisper who has the control. What kind of leader has to speak over his or her followers? Jesus did not scream out his parables. When He spoke, people listened quietly, He had control of the situation.

These are simple things that I never thought about until I read these devotionals. What is just as important as the words Jesus spoke is the they were delivered. He probably would not have had so much success had He brought a Bull Horn or drove around in a van like He was campaigning. He spoke the truth no louder than a whisper and it was heard through out the world.
