Title

A Place of Refuge

Scripture
Then you shall appoint cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the manslayer who kills any person accidentally may flee there.
(Numbers 35:11)
Devotional
We ought to live our lives as if we are being pursued by the avenger of blood, focusing our eyes on the city of refuge. We cannot stop moving forward. There is no time to stop nor dwell in the city of nostalgia. We, as the manslayers are guilty of crimes against both God and man, often times in our ignorance, but nevertheless guilty. God has granted to us a city of refuge, a place of safety and mercy. I see this city in a twofold realm; the first being the church of Jesus Christ, the place where God’s government presides. The second is the City of God, the new Jerusalem, the place we call heaven. We can find solace and refuge in His church until we enter into that Celestial City for all of eternity. Don’t stop the journey, keep your eyes on the city, and find refuge for your soul.
