A Desire To Lead Is A Desire To Serve

For the most part, the world’s conception of leadership is that of being served and having first place. This is not leadership; it is lordship. You can lord over, but you must lead under. Christ type Leading is not coercive, intimidating, condescending, nor abusive. It is encouraging, inspiring, edifying, and caring. Thus leadership is a good thing to desire. Jesus in essence said, “If you desire to be a leader, begin to do these things and you will become one.” Most people who strive for leadership are actually striving for recognition. True leaders strive to serve; recognition is just a by-product of serving. To be a godly leader, learn to serve even those who cannot help you attain your dreams and goals. You may be serving angles unaware. Remember, If you want to be great in God’s kingdom, be a servant of all.
