Title

The Mountaintop Belongs To The Lord

Scripture
And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.
(Mark 6:46)
Devotional
The last person standing, stands with the Lord on the mountaintop. This is the price and reward of leadership. The disciples were tired, but I’m sure Jesus even more so. Yet, Jesus sent them away first, then He dismissed the crowd. After, instead of leaving and resting Himself, He went to the mountaintop to pray. Why? I believe that it was for two reasons. The first being that He might glorify His Father for the mighty work that was done with the five thousand. Secondly, Christ understood that prayer is the battle. He recognized that this is the place of victory. Look what happened after the mountaintop. What was the next thing that the disciples saw? They saw Jesus walking on the water. After a day of blessing, don’t forget the mountaintop. The mountaintop is the place of victory and blessing.
