Title

Unless We Forget In the Battle

Scripture
But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.
(Psalm 3:3)
Devotional
God is our protector. He is the One who makes us distinct, and He is our encourager. When your enemies rise up against you, know for sure that the Lord God is your defense. When life’s battles seems to be overwhelming you, remember, God knows; He remains in control. You need not fear. He will shield you from destruction. Then, He will exalt you before your enemies. He will be your crown. He will justify the righteous. As a loving parent lifts the tearful head of a wounded child, your God will tenderly lift your head up high. You belong to Him. He is your God. He loves you with an everlasting love. There will be a day that you will stand before Him. On that day, He will wipe away every tear. He will heal every wound. He will welcome you into His everlasting Kingdom. He will look you in the eyes and say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Definition: In our text, shield is naturally used as a metaphor to depict God’s protection for His saints. The phrase “lifts up my head,” conveys a restoring to position and right standing with God.

Reference: “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one,” Ephesians 6:16

Application: Imagine that as you go through your day that there is an invisible shield around you protecting you from the attacks of the enemy. Likewise, realize who you are in Christ and hold your head up high. Yet, do be sure to do so without arrogance or self-pride.
