Title

Out Of The Crowd

Scripture
And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him.
(Mark 3:13)
Devotional
Out of the multitudes that followed Christ, He only called twelve out of the crowd. Of these, one would betray Him, three would be the closest to Him, and one was called the disciple whom Jesus loved. Jesus said, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” I thank God that I can be one of the multitude that follows Christ. However, I don’t want to be merely part of the crowd when there is the possibility to be called to the mountain. What did these men do to be called out of the crowd? For the most part, they were plain working men. What made them different? I think it can be defined in a word, “Abandonment.” They simply forsook all and followed Christ. They didn’t allow anything other than Christ to take hold of them. The final line of our text states it so very well, “And they came to Him.”
