Title

It’s Our Nature To Judge, And Our Nature Is Wrong.

Scripture
But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?”
(Matthew 26:8)
Devotional
It’s good to give a gift, but if the gift is too lavish, we begin to judge the gift-giver. If a seemingly good person does a righteous deed it is accepted. Yet if a known sinner does righteously, it's judged as conniving. Because we have an inherent sin nature, it’s also our nature to judge, and to judge wrongly. We do it at home, at work, in business, in government, and at church. We judge: comfort as extravagance, wealth as greed, happiness as apathy, hard work as fanaticism, beautification as indulgence, possessions as excess, and first class as no class. Judging produces mediocrity at best. It produces bitterness, envy, and eventually hate at its worst. Just ask Judas. Because it is our nature to judge, we must overcome it purposefully. Remember, Jesus said, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged.”
