Title

A Destroying Child

Scripture
Whoever robs his father or his mother, and says, "It is no transgression, the same is companion to a destroyer.
(Proverbs 28:24)
Devotional
I do not think that the writer of this Proverbs is speaking only of a monetary robbery. Even though there are people who have and do rob their parents of their finances and resources, especially those with drug or alcohol addictions. Both will make the worst of scoundrels out of the once best of children. We can more than often rob our parents of their joy, peace and hearts. Whenever a child goes astray or wanders into a devious lifestyle, a parent's heart is broken. Whenever a parent does not know the doings or whereabouts of their children there is no peace nor joy. When we can steal their good names by our poor character. These along with others are the things that rob fathers and mothers. And if a foolish child dare say, "I'm not hurting anybody, it's my life." That child is not only a companion of a destroyer; he or she is a destroyer.
