Title

Idolatrous Adultery

Scripture
You shall not commit adultery.
(Deuteronomy 5:18)
Devotional
Adultery violates every covenant known to man. It violates God's covenant with us and our covenants with each other. It even violates our covenant with our own bodies. The apostle Paul instructs, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body."[16] Adultery breaks every commandment. It puts lust before God. It dishonors parents, it murders by dividing that which God has called one flesh. It steals and even bears false witness. Adultery violates our relationship to Christ as His bride. If you ever find yourself in a potentially compromising situation, run. Run as if you were running for your very life because you will be. If thoughts of infidelity enter your mind, change your mind. Flee the ungodly reasoning that attempts to justify unfaithfulness. You are no exception. Your situation is not unique. Adultery is adultery and it is sin. Flee it.
