The Wicked Will Get Their Comeuppance

Scripture
The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked.
(Nahum 1:3)
Devotional
Here we have the answer to, “Why do the wicked prosper?” The answer quite simply is, “They do not!” No one escapes the judgment of a just and righteous God. No one escapes His power. The Lord is slow to anger because as the Apostle Peter reveals, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”(1) The wicked will not be acquitted, unless he or she repents of their wickedness. You and I will not be acquitted unless we turn from our froward ways. Let us not see God’s slowness as weakness. Let us see it as it is: loving patience. Let us not only see it; let us practice it with each other. Let us likewise be slow to anger and great in His power, always remembering that the wicked will not be acquitted, unless they repent.
