Strength Is Just a Book Away

Scripture
My soul melts from heaviness; strengthen me according to Your word.
(Psalm 119:28)
Devotional
Have you ever been there? Have the burdens of life ever been so heavy upon you that you just didn’t think that you could handle another proverbial straw? This one simple verse of scripture has the answer: “Strengthen me according to Your word.” When life gets heavy and I feel overwhelmed, I read the epistles. My wife reads the Psalms. I think that she may have a better handle on it than me. There is much comfort in the Psalms. One of her favorites is Psalm 57:1, “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.”(1) Whether it is the Psalms or the Gospels, strength and comfort are just a Book away. Instead of turning to depression or drugs, bitterness or alcohol, turn to the Living Word of God and He will strengthen you according to His Word.

The bible...GOD's word is my strength my fortress. many times I have been in despair and in opening HIS book...It seemed to open to the passage HE wanted me to see....... Psalm 23...The Lord is My Shepherd...
I find strength and consolation in reading HIS word. Also reading the words of JESUS in the book of John.....
