Title

Light In a Dark Day

Scripture
Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
(Psalm 17:8)
Devotional
What a wonderful word picture: God see us as precious in His sight, and protects us with all of His strength. Let us never forget that we are precious in His sight because of what His Son did for us on the cross at a place called Calvary. Let us likewise never forget that He has promised, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.“ (1) Therefore, when ugly days get you down look up into the eyes of Him who sees you as precious. When fear and doubt fill your soul, huddle under the shadow of His wings. You and I know that there are hard days in this life. We understand that there will be many things that we do not understand. Nevertheless, we can be assured that we are very much loved and protected by the Creator of the universe. Hold on to that truth. Never allow the enemy of the brethren to steal your joy. No matter how heartbreaking your day may be, the best is yet to come.

(1) Hebrews 13:5
Thought For The Night
“May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships so that you may live deep within your heart. May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may wish for justice, freedom, and peace. May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.” A Franciscan blessing, quoted by Gordon MacDonald in Leadership Weekly (3-31-03).
