Title

It's A Choice We Make

Scripture
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.
(Proverbs 31:26)
Devotional
Wisdom and kindness are choices to be made. We have the ability to acquire wisdom and the ability to show kindness. Ignorance and harshness are also choices, bad choices. The apostle James tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."[1] Likewise the apostle Paul instructs, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted..."[2] I am confident that this virtuous woman's children never heard her yelling or screaming. I know for some this is hard to comprehend. Nevertheless, "The law of kindness" does not coerce nor attempt to intimidate. Instead, "She opens her mouth with wisdom." It's simply a choice to be made: crude and rude or calm and cordial. They both bear fruit; one however is bitter, and the other sweet. One leads to wrath... the other to peace. Which will you choose?
