Students Of The Word

Scripture
He who despises the word will be destroyed, but he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
(Proverbs 13:13)
Devotional
Those who receive instruction are rewarded; those who reject it will inescapably fail at their endeavors. Quite simply, the teachable prosper; despisers of correction do not. These truths are even more applicable when related to the Word of God. Heed its instruction and prosper, reject it and failure is emanate. Few people, especially believers, see themselves as despisers of the Word. Nevertheless, if we neglect it, fail to heed it or read it, we in a sense are living as if we despise it. The greatest positive influencers of this world have been people of the Word. They not only read it, they applied its truths to their lives. They lived it—study them. There have been many others, who have impacted the world without applying the truths of God’s Word. However you will inevitably find that they ended this life either in or headed for destruction. Which are you?
