Title

A Holy Kiss

Scripture
Greet one another with a holy kiss.
(2 Corinthians 13:12)
Devotional
There is great power in the simplicity of a godly greeting. It is the first step of hospitality. The appropriateness of it depends on the relationship of the one being greeted. For example, in our culture, it would not be appropriate to greet a stranger with a kiss, but it would be very appropriate to greet someone with whom we are intimately related with a kiss. From a handshake to a hug to a kiss, there is to be a suitable greeting. When first introduced to someone I immediately extend my hand as a gesture of greeting. Those with whom I am close, I hug and those with whom I am very close, I greet with an appropriate kiss. For example: my children and grandchildren all greet me with a kiss, always. I likewise greet my brothers, nephews and nieces with a kiss. I also have greeted dear brothers and sisters in the Lord with a fitting kiss. It all depends on the measure of love and the acceptance of the ones being greeted. The key to the latter greeting is the word "holy."
