The Biography

Scripture
He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five. Also he spoke of trees...animals...birds...creeping things, and of fish.
(1 Kings 4:32-33)
Devotional
Was Solomon's wisdom a by-product of his knowledge of these things or was the knowledge of these things the by-product of his wisdom? I believe it is the latter. Wisdom begins with a clear slate; it has its beginning in innocence. It is the by-product of a pure heart. Therefore, wisdom is available to all who come to Christ. For in Christ our hearts are cleansed and innocence is imparted. Once we appropriate this wisdom, we have the ability to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. And once we grow in this grace and knowledge, we will begin to produce the desires of our hearts. The barren will become prolific. The sluggard will turn into the ant. Accomplishments will become a way of life--a life not driven by ambition, but led by wisdom.  Therefore, Solomon's biography is not only to be admired, it is to be modeled.
