Title

Without Exception

Scripture
And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord . . . except that the high places were not removed.
(2 Kings 15:3-4)
Devotional
This seems to be the commentary of the twenty-first century Christian. We almost do it right. However, faith in Christ is not a horseshoe game. Close is not good enough. We believe all that God says, except . . . We trust God for everything, except . . . We know God can do anything, except . . . And the infamous, We obey all of God’s Word, except . . . When we add exceptions to the things of God, He makes exceptions to the blessings of God. The Creator of the universe has not called us to a partial obedience. He has called us to a complete obedience and there are no exceptions. Your life is not an exception. Your situation or circumstance is not an exception. I thank God that we, for the most part, attempt to do what is right in the sight of the Lord; nevertheless, God demands total obedience. Let us not make exceptions. Let us do and follow the whole counsel of God without exception.

Defining:  “Except” falls right in there with, “but,” however,” and “yet.” These more than often become introductions to excuses for not doing what is right in the sight of the Lord.

Referencing: “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish,” Luke 13:3 (KJV).

Applying: Obey the Lord your God, without exception.
