Title

Beware the Spirit Of Jezebel

Scripture
Jezebel... put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.
(2 Kings 9:30)
Devotional
Sin will always attempt to entice. Jezebel is most likely the most infamous character of the Scriptures. Her name is synonymous with everything that is wicked and immoral. Here is what I know about Jezebel: for there to be a Jezebel, there must first be an Ahab. Where was Ahab when Jezebel was scheming against the man of God and murdering the prophets? Where was his intervention as husband and king? He was cowering on his bed. (1) Ahab had more of a mother and son relationship with Jezebel than a husband and wife relationship-which is a perversion of marriage. Jezebel enticed Ahab and because of his unwillingness to deal with her, she attempted to entice with her sexual immorality. The spirit of Jezebel has no place in the home or, especially, the Church. Hear Christ’s warning to His Church, “I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality...”(2)

(1) 1 Kings 21:4, (2) Revelation 2:20
Text For The Day
2 Kings 9:30: Jezebel… put paint on her eyes and adorned her head, and looked through a window.
Thought For The Day
“For there to have been a Jezebel, there had to have been an Ahab. Nevertheless, even though there was a Nabal, by the grace of God there was an Abigail.” Pastor James Foglio, New Covenant Church, Weirton West Virginia.
Questions To Ponder
Morning Study Guide
Defining:  The spirit of Jezebel” Everything that was the epitome of a godly woman, Jezebel was not. There is, to my knowledge, no evidence that she was a physical harlot, nevertheless, she by all means was a spiritual one. The New Bible Dictionary states, “She had a strong, domineering character, and was self-willed and forceful.”

Referencing: “Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants…” Revelation 2:20

Applying: As Joseph fled before Potiphar’s wife; flee from the spirit of Jezebel.
