Title

They Are Not the Same

Scripture
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
(John 3:36)
Devotional
We live in a time of vast and baseless philosophies and opinions about God, heaven and religion: from various “Christian” cults to eastern mysticism, and from Buddhism to Islam. We must understand that there are radical differences in these views. They are not the same. They do not all worship the same God. There are not differing roads to heaven. Either we believe Jesus at His Word or there is nothing to believe about Him at all. He has said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”(1) Our text makes it even clearer. Faith in Christ is the only way to eternal life. It is amazing how many groundless beliefs there are. How foolish to chance eternity on a groundless belief and more than often thoughtless opinion. Let us say with the apostle Paul, “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that day.”(2)

Defining: “The plumb line” that will most often define true “faiths” from cults is Jesus Christ. If He is not Lord God Almighty and the only way to attain salvation, that religion is false.

Referencing: “Jesus said… ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me,’” John 14:6.

Applying: Do not be deceived. Remember the Words of Jesus when He said, “For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many,” Matthew 24:5.
