Living a Myopic Lifestyle

Scripture
For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness…
(2 Peter 1:9)
Devotional
The things of which the apostle Peter is speaking are: faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. Here is an inventory of success in God’s kingdom. It would be wise to take it. How could we ever expect to succeed in any endeavor it shortsighted or especially blinded with regard to that endeavor? If I found myself constantly failing at the things that are important to me, I would either reconsider what I am doing or examine why I am failing. The latter being the first. Think about the term shortsighted, and apply it to your dreams and goals. Ask, “Am I myopic in them? Am I so busy with the task at hand that I am not looking down the road far enough to keep from hitting life’s potholes? Is my vision so shortsighted that I am missing the right road? Likewise ask, have I been blinded by my failure to see the big picture?
