Title

A Quiet and Gentle Spirit

Scripture
Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit…
(1 Peter 3:4)
Devotional
A gentle and quiet spirit is not a feminine quality, it is a godly characteristic. Loud, boisterous behavior is not a quality that becomes a believer. One that draws attention to him or herself is one who attempts to draw the attention away from godliness. It is not cute or becoming to be the center of attention. One who is purposefully seeking notice reveals the character of a heart of pride. Attention seekers are insecure, not knowing that the true source of security is faith in God, not in themselves. The incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit is not only the hidden person of the heart, it is the evidence of a trusting heart. If our actions, dress, mannerisms and attitude are designed for attention, it is an ungodly design. Think about and meditate on the phrase, “Incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.” Model it. Live it and you will become beautiful in the sight of man and God.
