God’s Word Holds True

Scripture
It shall be a lowest of kingdoms; it shall never again exalt itself above the nations, for I will diminish them…
(Ezekiel 29:15)
Devotional
What God exalts man cannot diminish; what God diminishes man cannot exalt. Once the greatest and grandest of all kingdoms. Its wealth was immeasurable, its territory vast. Its armies were feared and conquered without resistance. Its glory surpassed that of Rome. Nevertheless God has relegated it to the lowest of kingdoms. Egypt has not risen above this state since its judgement was announced by the God of Israel. Their splendors are mere relics of former glories. Here we have a testimony of the authority of God’s Word. The prophecies and judgements of God are irrevocable. They are both a warning and a sign of His sovereignty and power. We are never to go against that which God has exulted and never attempt to build that which He has diminished. Of all histories, the history of the Bible is to be heeded above all. Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
