Title

Getting Rid of Hypocrisy

Scripture
For you were hypocrites in your hearts… saying, “Pray for us… and according to all the Lord your God says… we will do.”
(Jeremiah 42:20)
Devotional
If there is one thing that the world is looking for so that it may judge the church, it is hypocrisy. If we preach and say one thing and do another the world rightfully shouts, “Hypocrites!” The worst form of hypocrisy is when we attempt to deceive God by saying or even doing one thing on the outside but having an evil heart on the inside. It is hypocrisy to ask for prayer when we really want agreement. It is hypocrisy to say that we will pray and not do so. It is hypocrisy to pray and not put action to our prayers. Let us live our lives in such a way that none will ever be able to say of us, “Hypocrites!” Let us not only do what we say, let us be who we say that we are. Hypocrisy cannot stand up against the truth. It will run from repentance, and vanish when our word becomes our bond.
