Title

Hungry Yet Content

Scripture
A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, but to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
(Proverbs 27:7)
Devotional
I have found that there is a great difference between being satisfied and being content. I see the satisfied as those who have stopped growing and have retired from life. The content, on the other hand, are those who love life and are pursuing it to the fullest. The satisfied stop; the content pursue. The satisfied are fed up with life; the content are filled with life. The satisfied loathe the honeycomb. To the content, all of life is a honeycomb. Contentment grows; the satisfied stop growing. Which are you? Do you loathe the honeycomb of life? Or do you find that even the bitterness of life is sweet? Can you say with the apostle Paul, “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."
