Title

Show Me My Heart O God

Scripture
God . . . knows the secrets of the heart
(Psalm 44:21)
Devotional
Who we are on the inside is who we really are. God knows our most intimate thoughts and desires. He knows our innermost priorities and the reality of our relationship with Him. I am convinced that we much more than often have no idea what the secrets of our hearts are. The prophet Jeremiah clearly tells us, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?"(1) The answer is, God can. He knows perfectly what is in our hearts. He knows the things that usurp His presence and displace His authority. Our hearts may more than often mislead us, and others, but the heart can never deceive an omniscient God. There are at least two ways to know the condition of our hearts: the Word of God and our conscience. A heart right with God will never violate either. If we have the mind of Christ, we will inevitably obtain a heart for God. Proverbs 23:7 tells us, "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he."(2)
