Is Anybody Home?

Scripture
Why, when I came, there was no man? Why, when I called, was there none to answer?
(Isaiah 50:2)
Devotional
I do not want to stand in front of the Lord some day and have Him say to me, “I called, but you did not answer. I visited but you were not there.” I want to hear His voice and know the time of visitation. Therefore, let us listen with an ear bent toward obedience. Let us look expecting God to show Himself faithful. When in the middle of the night, for example, we are awakened, instead of being angry that we cannot sleep, let us listen for the voice of the Lord. Instead of judging the preacher, let us listen to the preaching. Instead of seeing others as strangers, let us look carefully for angels. God does speak and He does visit His children. The problem is that we are not given to hospitality and we are not tuned  in for the voice. He says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
