Title

See and Observe, Hear and Obey

Scripture
Seeing many things, but you do not observe; opening the ears, but he does not hear.
(Isaiah 42:20)
Devotional
The lessons of our text are sure. We see things clearly, but do we choose to understand and heed them? The sounds of truth and direction enter our ears, but do we listen with an ear toward obedience? It is one thing to see; it is quite another to take notice. It is one thing to hear; it is quite another to grasp what we have heard. We go to church and meetings. We attend conferences and lectures. We get all excited about what we have seen and heard, but as soon as we leave the facility, we leave what we have seen and heard. This does not have to be the case. This is not what God intends for us. We must learn to look with focus and listen with an ear leaning toward obedience. Listen intently. Write amply and review frequently. Instead of being part of the audience, be a participant. Instead of being entertained, be a student. See and observe. Hear and obey.
