Title

Sometimes Visions Are Distressing

Scripture
A distressing vision is declared to me, the treacherous dealer deals treacherously, and the plunderer plunders.
(Isaiah 21:2)
Devotional
All visions and all dreams are not necessarily good news. Nevertheless they are news worthy. Just as we are to be about the business of positive reinforcement, we likewise must be about the business of informing and warning. It would be foolish to encourage someone to build without warning them that they were doing so on perilous ground. We are to be as ready to shout, “Watch out!” as we are to shout, “Go for it!” Giving a just warning is not being negative. It is being wise and caring. Let us not be like the proverbial ostrich that buries his head in the sand when danger appears. Let us be like soaring eagles that watch and warn of impending danger. A true friend encourages when encouragement is needed and warns when danger appears. Both edify and are the work of visionaries. Sometimes visions are distressing.
