Title

Let Us be impartial in Judgment

Scripture
These things also belong to the wise: It is not good to show partiality in judgement.
(Proverbs 24:23)
Devotional
The best way not to show partiality in judgment is not to judge at all. Whenever we judge another, we are judging with partial information. There will always be at least one thing we do not know about any given situation. Therefore when we do judge, we will always judge showing partiality. Likewise we will judge others according to their dealings with us. If someone’s wellbeing is to our advantage, we will be far less apt to judge them. On the other hand, if there is someone we do not care for, we will for the most part be much more inclined to judge them. The apostle James warns us, “If you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.” Let us judge sin as sin, no matter who may be committing it. Likewise let us not judge anyone and we will never show partiality in judgment.
