Title

When God Restores

Scripture
And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends.
(Job 42:10)
Devotional
Job was a righteous man whose friends judged him wrongly. They were no comfort to him and their words multiplied his suffering. And what did God require of Job with regard to his friends? God said, “Pray for them.” He did not say pray against them, but “Pray for them.” The lesson is clear; God blesses those that are willing to be a blessing to others. Job did not see the end result of his circumstances. He could not fathom good coming from all that had befallen him. Nevertheless, God had a plan and a purpose. His plan was to demonstrate His sovereignty and His purpose was to defeat the accusations of the devil. However, before God was willing to multiply Job’s latter days, Job was required to pray for those who had maligned him. When Job obeyed, God doubled everything that he had lost. “So Job died, old and full of days.”
