Title

Do Not Be Deceived

Scripture
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
Devotional
The apostle Paul goes on to tell us who the unrighteous are. They are fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners. We are simply not to be deceived. If these things control us, how can we say that we are governed by God? It is one thing to be tempted by them, it is quite another to be ruled by them. Jesus Christ came to deliver us from them. We are to understand that to be tempted is not a sin; yielding to it is. You may have possibly fallen into one of these unrighteous acts, however, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Nevertheless, “Do not be deceived.” Do not think that you can willfully participate in sin and inherit God’s kingdom. Jesus Christ has delivered you from the power of darkness.
