Set Your Words in Order

Scripture
If you can answer me, set your words in order before me; take your stand.
(Job 33:5)
Devotional
Elehu’s rhetoric was just. If we indeed can answer the indictments of our accusers, let us take our stand and do so. Elehu, even in his youth, wisely instructed Job to set his words in order. Here is where many of us fail in our answers. We do not take the time to think about what we are going to say and how we are going to say it. We more than often get ourselves into trouble when we run our mouths without engaging our brains. Whenever we are challenged justly and our answers will be heard, our words must be weighed. We ought to prepare our testimonies. We should be prepared to “Sanctify the Lord God in [our] hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks [us] a reason for the hope that is in [us], with meekness and fear.” Whenever we are asked about our faith in Christ, it is too an important question to leave to a chance answer. When asked about our faith let us set our words in order and take our stand.
