Title

The Faith of Mordecai and Esther

Scripture
Mordecai… was great among the Jews and well received by the multitude of his brethren, seeking the good of the people…
(Esther 10:3)
Devotional
Mordecai was a simple servant at the gate raising an orphaned niece named Esther. Who would have thought that this man and his adopted daughter would have not only an impact on his generation, but every subsequent generation? Here we see the fruit of righteousness and godliness, obedience and the keeping of the commandment, “Honor your father and mother.” Mordecai and Esther are wonderful examples of simple faith and obedience. Mordecai trusted God and Esther likewise trusted Mordecai. A lessor man and woman would have fled for their lives and left the people to fend for themselves, but that is not the way of the godly. The uncompromising faith of Mordecai and the faithful obedience of Esther are a benchmark of righteousness. Let us stand firm in the gate and stand with honor before the king. Let us like Mordecai and Esther be examples to the believers and testimony to the world.
