Under the leadership of Nehemiah, God’s people made a written covenant that all the leaders signed. ?Recently my good friend, Steve Fellows, prayed, “Lord help me to be true to my word and my signature.” That simple prayer moved me and reminded me that each time I sign my name on a letter, invoice, or other agreement I enter into a covenant relationship. From the life-long marriage covenant to a temporary financial agreement, our signature is our word. ?Unless we are willing to stand by our word without compromise or neglect, let us refrain from penning our names to any document. And when we do choose to put our names in ink, let us do so with our very best penmanship.
