Title

The Great Physician

Scripture
“…Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.”
(2 Chronicles 16:12:)
Devotional
God is not antagonistic towards physicians, nor is he opposed to medicine or medical treatment. In fact, Luke was called the “beloved physician” and Paul instructed young Timothy to “Use a little wine for [his] stomach’s sake and [his] frequent infirmities.” ?Nevertheless, the great physician is the Lord Jesus Christ and all healing comes from Him. Doctors may mend and treat, but only God can heal and restore. How foolish of us not to first take our ailments and infirmities to Him. ?I am not suggesting that we do not take medications, but I am suggesting that we take more of our maladies to God. Instead of thoughtlessly going to the medicine cabinet, prayerfully go to the Lord. He is the God, “Who heals all your diseases.” Jeremiah says it this way, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”
